When did you start your job at Sopra Steria Switzerland?

When I started as a developer at Sopra Steria at the beginning of 2020, I naturally got caught up in the turmoil of the Covid measures. Despite my work and rental contract, I was initially not allowed to enter Switzerland until I found the appropriate paragraphe that got things moving.
In the freshly started project, distributed teamwork in the home office was the order of the day, which was not new territory for me. All the team members and the client were suddenly in the same boat. Sopra Steria supported the employees very well and on a human level. My project manager handled the situation brilliantly at the time, including one or two stunts.
The first meeting with colleagues on site after the suspension of measures then felt like a blind date postponed three times.

What is important to you when it comes to developing your career at Sopra Steria?

The attraction of Sopra Steria as an employer for me was initially the fact that the company operates in so many different industries. After all, one of the best things about software development is that it allows you to get a taste of so many fields and constantly learn something new.
As a kid, I used to drive my parents crazy taking things apart to figure out how they worked.
Fortunately, with software, you can even do that without leaving a screw behind after assembly.

Which aspect of your job do you particularly enjoy and why?

After only a short time, I was gradually given more responsibility as a developer in the project. This quickly turned into a smooth transition to project management. My mentor supported me in word and deed, but always gave me freedom and trusted in me. That is something that distinguishes the company as a whole for me.
In turn, I like to pass on my own experience and enjoy seeing the team grow with its tasks.
In addition, my long-standing software project for traffic management on national highways has so many facets that variety is always a given: from requirement gathering with the customer, to costing with the developers, to development time, to testing, to handing over the software to the operator, there are quite a few gears meshing together.

What does freedom mean to you?

The excellent working conditions and friendly people in Switzerland alone give me the feeling that i can breathe freely. I am very grateful for that.
On top of that, there is a breathtakingly beautiful landscape here, which alternates in a very small area. Thanks to the good infrastructure, you can also get to places very quickly where you can then enjoy this nature freely and on your own responsibility.
