When did you start your career at Sopra Steria?

I started working for Sopra Steria in March 2021. My wife had already moved from Germany to Switzerland two years earlier for a new job. A job change from my then German employer was not an option for me for a very long time, as I could not imagine a better job. Therefore, we commuted regularly between Germany and Switzerland for about two years. After this time, I decided to look for a job in Switzerland: Looking back, that was the perfect decision, because that's how I ended up at Sopra Steria.

Familiarization with a completely new environment in the middle of the Covid pandemic - exclusively via remote - was a very intensive time. But right from the start, the team spirit at Sopra Steria convinced me 100%. My colleagues were super supportive during my induction, even under these difficult conditions. I didn't actually see some of my colleagues for the first time "in real life" until about a year later.

What is important to you when it comes to developing your career at Sopra Steria?

It's important to me that I can decide for myself which path I want to take in my career. At Sopra Steria, I was offered carious options to choose from and decided to follow the management path. Even after I was hired, I am allowed to place my ideas in regular exchange with the management and thus consciously take on more responsibility "bit by bit".

Which aspect of your job do you particularly enjoy and why?

We have an incredible number of great people in the team. The colleagues support each other, they show consideration for each other and the atmosphere is great. When training new colleagues, a lot of time is taken to clarify all open questions. I have an incredible amount of fun working with my team.

What does freedom mean to you professionally?

I attach great importance to being able to determine for myself how issues can be addressed in both internal and external contact with colleagues and customers. The "personal touch" is particularly important to conflict resolution. For this, you need some leeway and freedom to make decisions in order to find solutions that are acceptable to everyone involved. Working together on projects is a matter of give and take, both internally and externally. At Sopra Steria, this leeway is available to me.
